19 Year Old Newport Man Seeks Kidney Transplant

A young man from Newport is looking for a kidney transplant. 19 year old Scott Velez was not feeling well last fall and went for a Covid-19 test …That is when he and his parents found out that Scott was in third stage kidney failure and that he has only ONE kidney…one in 750 people are actually born with one kidney. They also found that Scott is down to 17% function with his one kidney, so the family is looking for a transplant match. The family has started a go fund me page to raise funds to help with a surgery. Scott is on a donor list at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
