Hazzard Fest Owes Band
The owner of Hazzard Fest is in some trouble. Newport police say they were contacted by a representative for the Artimus Pyle Band who was contacted to play a show at Hazzard Fest. The band was to be paid $12,000. Jerry Lyda says the band was paid $6,000 in advance of the show with the remainder of the money to be paid when the show was over. Lyda says he was given a check for the remaining $6,000 after the show. However, when he went to bank the check, he found that it had been cancelled. Lyda says when he contacted Thurman, He was told that Thurman did not have the money to pay the band the rest of what there were owed. The District Attorney’s office says that this is a criminal matter since serviced were rendered by the band.
Hazzard Fest took place last October at the Cocke County Fairgrounds.
