Storm Debris Collection
The Cocke County Emergency Management Agency and FEMA have announced that private citizens will not have to pay for debris removal from their homes and property.
For those doing cleanup on their property, they ask that you separate debris into two piles.
- Household items: Anything that was manufactured
- Vegetation items: Anything that Mother Nature manufactured
This will streamline the process once items are taken to the Debris Collection Point and get those trucks back into the community. They can “dump and run” straight back to your neighbors.
All of this can be taken from the interior of your home and property and out to the “right of way”. This is the area that runs parallel to the roadway in front of your home. Place as close as you are able WITHOUT blocking the road in front of your home.
These items WILL be picked up by crews from and attached to The County relief mission.
If you are in a hurry to get these items off of your property, you CAN take these items to the Debris Collection Point. The DCP is located at 288 Clay Hill Road Newport. Items still need to be separated but there is no charge for this service.
