City Of Newport Resuming Removal Of Debris
The City of Newport will be resuming removal of debris caused by Hurricane Helene starting Monday, November 4th. The debris removal will continue for approximately 2 weeks.
The Newport Street Department will start picking up construction and demolition debris in downtown Newport followed by residential pick up along River Street and other adjacent streets with storm related debris.
The city asks that you separate debris into three separate piles…one for vegetation…tree limbs and such
Another for construction and demolition debris ( manufactured items such as furniture, building materials, carpet, etc.)
And third a pile for appliances…(appliances like refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, washer and dryers.)
They ask that you have these piles as close to the road as possible without being in the roadway. Each debris type will be taken to designated locations and disposed of in different regulated ways, making it very important the debris is separated correctly. The City of Newport hopes to have all debris picked up by November 18.
