Person Injured In single Vehicle Crash

One person was injured in a one vehicle crash Wednesday evening on Hwy 25/70 west. Kevin Foster told police that he was driving east on Highway 25/70 when the steering locked on the Dodge Ram pickup he was driving causing him to veer to the left, across oncoming lanes and then crashed into a utility pole near the Bottle Store. Foster stated it happened so quick, he did not have time to react to apply brakes. the impact with the utility pole brought down power lines onto the pickup and across the highway, stopping traffic.

Newport Utilities cleared the power line from the roadway to get traffic moving again. A passenger in the truck, Robert Hickman, complained of head pain, but was not transported to the hospital. A second vehicle was damaged by the power lines landing on that vehicle.
