Warming Station To Open In Newport

With the winter weather that will be affecting the area on Friday and Saturday, the First United Methodist Church in Newport will have a warming station available for those who need to get out of the cold. The warming station will be in the church’s Nurture Center across the street from their Sanctuary at 212 Washington Avenue in Newport. 

The warming station will be open Thursday night-Friday morning, Friday night-Saturday morning, and Saturday night-Sunday morning.  Volunteers will be on-site at 7:30 pm each night, with doors opening at 8 pm. No one will be admitted after 9pm. The warming station will close at 8 am the next morning, then re-open at 8pm that night. The warming station has cots and blankets as well as snacks and hot drinks.
