Sevier County Man Flees From Police
A Sevier County man was arrested Sunday in Cocke County after trying to flee from police. 25 year old Wesley Burgess of Sevierville was driving on Bogard Road when he went around a Cocke County deputy at a high speed. Deputy Jacob Damron then pursued Burgess onto McGaha Chapel Road where Burgess nearly hit another vehicle head on. The pursuit later got back onto Bogard Road. Burgess turned onto Butler Road before going up a gravel road on Yellow Springs Road. That is when Burgess’ vehicle had issues and he fled on foot. the K-9 was released and caught Burgess, who turned out to be a convicted felon. He was found to be in possession of a handgun in his front pocket. The Bersa .380 came back stolen out of Fremont, California. Burgess faces numerous charges including evading arrest, reckless driving and being a felon in possession of a handgun.
