TDOT Truck Involved In Accident In Hawkins County

A TDOT truck was involved in an accident in Hawkins County on Monday. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the TDOT attenuator truck was sitting on the shoulder of Highway 11W between Rogersville and Mooresburg. The TDOT truck then attempted to cross both lanes of southbound 11W to get to the crossover, but drove directly into the path of a Ford Explorer, which then struck the TDOT truck. Both the driver of the TDOT truck and the driver of the Ford Explorer had to be transported to the hospital with injuries.

The THP says the driver of the Explorer, following Tennessee law, had been in the outer lane but had moved over into the inside lane to go around the TDOT truck that was on the shoulder. Charges are pending against the driver of the TDOT truck.
