Stolen UTV Turns Up About A Mile Away From Home
Cocke County sheriff’s office investigators are trying to find out who is responsible for the theft of a side by side UTV in the Cosby area. The theft occured at a home on Misty Ridge Way. Homeowner Donald McDermott told Deputy Tim Snapp that he went to his barn this week and discovered that his 2019 Polaris UTV had been stolen. McDermott stated that the UTV was parked inside the barn and was blocked by his tractor. The front loader of the tractor had been removed and the tractor pushed outside of the barn to gain access to the UTV.
While Deputy Snapp was taking the report, a construction company on O’Neil Road had called the sheriff’s office to report a Polaris UTV was sitting in the roadway and the ignition switch was busted. That UTV turned out to be the one belonging to Mr. McDermott. The UTV was still in good condition except for the busted ignition switch and the hood was missing. So far, there are no suspects.
