Wednesday Night Drug Arrest

Wednesday night, Newport police made a drug arrest at Cracker Barrel. A silver van was spotted driving down Cosby Highway off of Old Cave Church Road…knowing the vehicle’s driver was wanted on a felony warrant…a Newport patrolman and a detective followed that vehicle into the Cracker Barrel parking lot, where the driver 42 year old Crystal Van Daley and the passenger 43 year old Andy Shepherd exited the vehicle and went inside the Cracker Barrel where they tried to hide in the respective restrooms where police apprehended both. A search of the vehicle revealed a black pouch containing 3 syringes, filters and a tin can containing 2 baggies of what was suspected as methamphetamine…one baggie weighted 7.24 grams the other 3 grams. Also in the vehicle were more baggies and a digital scale consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics. A small bag of marijuana was also found. Both Van Daley & Shepherd were arrested and charged with multiple drug offences.
