Cocke County & White Pine Receive Funds
Cocke County is also receiving a recreation trails grant. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation announced last week that Cocke County will receieve $192,220 that will be used for getting a 1.7 acre tract of land prepared for a new park. The money will go for land clearing, the hauling and spreading of dirt…plus installing electrical and water and sewer services….and the construction of a pavillion. That 1.7 acre tract of donated land will use adjacent county property to provide a river access ramp.
The City of White Pine is also getting some grant money…over $139,000. White Pine will use those funds to improve lighting at Lions park, replace existing lights in the parking area and install a new LED lighting system on a multi purpose field at the park.
