Newport Man Arrested For Possession of Narcotics and Paraphernalia
Friday night a Cocke County deputy pulled over a vehicle on Dark Hollow Road…the occupants both had outstanding warrants for failure to appear…the passenger was Cory Barnett of Newport who also had a warrant for violation of community corrections. A syringe was seen lying in full view in the front passenger floorboard. Behind Barnett’s seat in the back floor board was .5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and two glass pipes. Barnett told the deputy when the vehicle was pulled over, he tossed the drugs and paraphernalia in the back in hopes it would not be discovered. Barnett now faces charges for possession of schedule II narcotics on top of the outstanding warrants.
