Summer Wells Search Enters Second Week
The search for Summer Wells has now entered its second week. Summer diappeared from her home in the Beech Creek area of Hawkins County on Tuesday June 15th. The next afternoon the TBI issued an Amber Alert for the child. The TBI said yesterday they have now covered a radius of 4.6 miles from the home where she disappeared from. A member of the Knox County rescue squad that is assisting in the search said that the areas having to be searched is very rugged terrain, very steep with no trails…it’s all thick brush making this very treacherous for those participating in the search.
There are well over 100 rescue professionals working on the search…they are from over 70 different agencies from Tennessee and other surrounding states. Tim Coup who is leading the ground search efforts has stated they will search until she is found. Summer’s father still contends she was kidnapped…but the TBI says there is no evidence so far to supprt that claim. However they continue to explore all avenues.
