Iconic Greeneville Hotel Victim Of Theft
An iconic and historic hotel in downtown Greeneville has become the victim of a theft. Greeneville police reported that on Monday 4 juveniles stole knives from the General Morgan Inn and Conference Center…not just any knives, but high-end knives….valued at $400 each. Those 4 juveniles were also caught on video smearing soap on the bathroom wall, floor, and counters. Those individuals have not been identified and are still at large. The General Morgan Inn is located in downtown Greeneville, just a short distance from the Andrew Johnson historic sites. The Inn was built at the location for a tavern that was first constructed in the late 1790’s. It is named after a civil war general John Hunt Morgan…known as the “Thunderbolt Of The Confederacy” who was killed not far from the hotel’s current site.
