Woman Claims MH Hospital Security Assaulted Her
A woman this week told Morristown police that she had been assaulted by security at Morristown Hamblen Emergency Room. The woman claimed that a security guard gave her a black eye. However video footage of the incident showed a different story. Morristown Hamblen stated the woman was a psychiatric patient and attempted to leave the hospital through a door she was denied access to. As medical staff and security attempted to get the woman back to her room, she dropped to the floor and actively resisted. A security guard was able to turn the woman over to her stomach where he attempted to gain compliance with the assistance of a nurse holding the woman’s feet. The woman identified as 54 year old Mary Sampson Sampson had to be physically taken back to the psychiatric room by security. It is believed that Sampson’s injuries occurred when she was rolled to her stomach to gain compliance. No charges were filed against the security guard nor the hospital.
