Traffic Stop Leads to Fugitive Arrest

A traffic stop in Cocke County resulted in the arrests of a fugitive from out of state. Deputy Joshua Smith pulled over a vehicle on Industrial Road late Wednesday night. The driver was 39 year old Jason Dorst of Newport. A check of Dorst through dispatch returned a hit out of Florida. Dorst is wanted in the Sunshine State for uttering forged instruments…That is when a person knowingly publishes or puts into circulation any forged or altered financial document, legal document or other writing with the intent to misrepresent it as true and defraud others, plus he is wanted for first degree petty theft, and organized fraud less the $20,000. Authorities in Florida were notified and asked Cocke County police that he be arrested and held for extradition back to Florida.
