Man Arrested For DUI Saturday Morning
Early Saturday morning, Cocke County police were dispatched to the bridge construction stoplight on Hooper Highway. A motorist had called 911 to report a vehicle sitting at the red light that had been sitting there through three light cycles. Deputies opened the door and found the driver, 41 year old Tyrone Herron of Knoxville, asleep with his foot on the brake. When they awoke Herron he asked if he was in Knoxville. He told deputies that he was on his way back to Knoxville from a party in Gatlinburg. He admitted he had a little to drink at the party but had smoked a lot of marijuana. Searching the vehicle, deputies found an empty bottle of Petron tequila, an open container of beer in the cup holder and a case of beer in the backseat. Herron was charged with DUI and taken to the Cocke County Jail.
