Woman Hiding Behind Weigels’ Arrested for Warrant

Police arrested a woman hiding behind Weigel’s in Newport late Wednesday night. Patrolman Paul Weber had walked into the Weigel’s store and observed 43 year old Joni Rexrode take off running out the rear exit of the store. Weber soon located Rexrode hiding behind the store. She told officers she ran because she knew there was a warrant out for her arrest and she thought he was coming in the store to arrest her. He did just that and transported her to the Cocke County jail.
