Newport Utilities Meeting Updates

A move that has been in the planning stages for some time is now coming to fruition. Newport Utilities will be taking over the billing from the town of Parrottsville’s sewer service. That move was given final approval by the Newport Utility Board at their monthly meeting on Tuesday.

Also an update was given on NU connect…the broadband service offered by Newport Utilities. There are currently 3,652 subscribers to the service and 1,179 more on a waiting list. To help cull down that waiting list the utility announced they are hiring additional installation crew members to assist primarily with fixed wireless installation.
