Victims Identities Revealed In Scott County VA Double Homicide
The victims identities in that double shooting in Scott County Virginia have now been released. The Scott County Virginia sheriff’s office says the victims were two men…38-year-old Kevin James Paul George and 28-year-old Preston Lee Franklin. They were both found in a yard with gunshot wounds to their heads. A medical examiner from Roanoke confirmed both George and Franklin had been shot at close range. That shooting happened on Sunday evening and the man accused of shooting them fled into Tennessee. That man was 34 year old Christopher C. Hutson of Hawkins County. He wound up in Newport Monday afternoon and was shot and killed by US Marshals behind a home on Runnion Street after being tracked down by Newport and Cocke County law enforcement. Investigators in Scott County Virginia are scratching their heads as to how the three men were connected and what the motive was for the killing. Hutson had no prior record of trouble in Virginia, nor in Hawkins County. However, Sullivan County Tennessee reports several criminal offenses by Hutson including reckless endangerment, evading arrest, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, conspiracy to distribute heroin and the possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. Neighbors in the area of the shooting say that area is normally very quiet except for the sounds of children playing…it is not known for the sound of gunshots. Unfortunately for them, it is now known for a double murder.
