Tear Gas Used To End Standoff In Hawkins County
Over the weekend police in Hawkins County had to deploy tear gas to end a standoff with a man in Rogersville. A resident had called 911 to report a man firing shots in a neighborhood. Police arrived to find 43 year old Jamie L. McGuire sitting on the front porch of a home with what appeared to be a shotgun next to him. McGuire was ordered to come down off the porch, but instead grabbed the shotgun and threatened to shoot a police officer. He then barricaded himself inside the home. After several hours of negotiations failed, police used two rounds of tear gas to finally get McGuire out of the home and into custody. He was already facing charges of Failure to Appear for Reckless Endangerment charges filed on April 4th. More charges connected to the incident this weekend are now pending.
