Sevier Co. Deputy Still In Critical Condition
A Sevier County deputy is still listed in critical but stable condition at a Knoxville hospital. The Sevier County sheriff’s department says that K-9 Deputy Jonathan Dodd attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle just before midnight Saturday night on eastbound I-40 at the exit 412 exit ramp. The vehicle he was pulling over refused to completely stop and fled. While pursuing that vehicle, Dodd’s patrol car was involved in a collision with a white full-size truck towing an enclosed trailer. Deputy Dodd was transported to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville and is in the intensive care unit. His K-9 partner named Toro was in the patrol car as well. Toro suffered just minor injuries, he is expected to make a full recovery. The Sevier County Sheriff’s office says a criminal investigation is underway concerning the vehicle that Deputy Dodd was pursuing.
