Two Individuals Found Dead Sunday, Different Locations

Two individuals were found dead in their vehicles in Newport on Sunday, in different locations. First at 8:45 am, police were called to the Loves’ Travel Center about a possible deceased female sitting at a gas pump. Officer Lindsay Laughter arrived and found 28 year old female in the driver’s seat of a black Chevrolet Tahoe. A rolled up dollar bill, which is commonly used to ingest narcotics was found in the driver’s door. Officer Laughter administered two 4mg doses of Narcan and performed sternum ribs to try to get a response, but was not successful. The woman’s arm was stiff and cold to the touch. A check of video footage of that pump showed that the woman, only identified as Ms. Howard, had been parked at that gas pump since 11:53 Saturday night. That death is currently under investigation.

Then at 9am, police were called to a residence on Bowman Drive about a man sitting motionless in his parked car. Police found a 2001 blue Nissan XTR sitting in the driveway at that address. The driver and lone occupant in the vehicle was 24 year old JJ Benjamin…he was cold to the touch. First Call EMS arrived and confirmed the young man was deceased. No further information has been releases about that case.
