Police Called To Possible Overdose Leads To Arrest

Early Wednesday police were called to Hedrick Drive in Newport about an unconscious male laying in the grass. The man was 43 year old Jason McMahan…he was sweating profusely, and had slow and shallow breathing and appeared to have overdosed. McMahan was given tow 4mg doses of Narcan and an ambulance was called, but First Call did not have an ambulance available to respond. The Newport Fire Department was called to administer further first aid. McMahan regained consciousness but refused transportation to the hospital. He had an active warrant for his arrest so he was instead taken to the Cocke County Jail.
