Three Newport Individuals Arrested In Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office has announced the arrest of three Newport individuals on numerous charges resulting from a burglary that happened on Sunday. Deputies in Jefferson County were dispatched to a home on Old Newport Highway about a burglary in progress. The victim stating that people had broken into their home and they called 911 while hiding in the bathroom. Two vehicles were observed leaving that home and a K9 deputy stopped both vehicles holding all occupants at gunpoint till more deputies arrived. Inside a Ford Freestyle station wagon, were three individuals and 2 children ages 1 and 4. Deputies recovered a loaded handgun with the serial numbers removed under the front passenger seat. A shot gun was also recovered in the backseat floorboard…sitting at the children’s feet. Also recovered and seized was approximately 13 oz. of Heroin with a street value of approximately $50,000 dollars, 3.8 grams of Marijuana and $1533.00 cash. Four individuals were arrested in total…they are…18 year old Davion Williams of Detroit, Michigan…Charged with aggravated Burglary & possession of heroin for resale; 39 year old Amanda Herz of Newport…charged with aggravated Burglary plus 2 counts of Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect and possession of heroin for resale; 49 year old James Croft of Newport…he is charged with resisting and evading arrest, 2 counts of child abuse or neglect and possession of heroin for resale…and also arrested was 37 year old Natalia Stewart of Newport…she is being charged with aggravated burglary. Williams, Herz and Croft were also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
