TWRA Euthanizes Another Bear

Another bear has been euthanized in Sevier County. TWRA officials say that a 90 year old woman was sitting on her front porch at her home on Abbott Road Wednesday afternoon when a bear and her three cubs came up on her front porch. The woman grabbed a lawn chair and tried to scare the bears off, but the mother bear wound up scratching the woman…the bears then took off. The woman was treated at the hospital and is expected to be okay. The bears were later found and since the adult bear had injured a human, the bear had to be euthanized. The TWRA is now monitoring the yearling cubs.

This makes the third bear to be euthanized this month. A bear scratched a mother and her daughter after ripping into a tent last Sunday, and then earlier in the month a bear aggressively attacked a home in Sevier County.
