Two Separate Accidents Tuesday Lead To Arrests

Two accidents in Cocke County Tuesday wound up in DUI arrests. The first was on Lark Road…a Toyota Camry had run off the road and into a creek. The driver was trying to get the car out when police arrived. 57 year old Lewis Raines was unsteady on his feet and failed field sobriety tests. The second was a couple hours later around 8:30 pm police spotted a woman walking in the middle of County Line Road talking to herself…a gray SUV that had struck an embankment was nearby. The woman was identified as 45 year old Jennifer Ball of Talbott. She admitted to smoking marijuana and taking Xanax…she also said she was driving the SUV and her husband Jonathan Ball began choking her and she drove off the road. She told police that Jonathan Ball had fled into the woods. Jennifer Ball was arrested on suspicion of DUI…Jonathan Ball was not located.
