Traffic Pursuit Leads To Arrest

Cocke County police pursued a vehicle into Jefferson County over the weekend. K-9 Deputy Blake Cupp spotted a suspicious vehicle that was traveling with its brake lights on even thought it was accelerating. That vehicle got off on Exit 423 and turned on Hwy 25/70 heading west. The vehicle pulled into the Shell parking lot across from Old Hwy 411, but then exited that lot and took off on Hwy 25/70 west heading towards Jefferson County at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was being driven recklessly into oncoming traffic nearly crashing into other vehicles head on. The vehicle continued into Jefferson County towards the Dandridge city limits, The vehicle once again attempted to travel into oncoming traffic while trying to evade police, and crashed at Maury Middle School. The driver exited and attempted to run on foot…but the K-9 officer Narco was turned loose and caught the offender by biting him in the leg. The evading subject was 30 year old Michael Stone of Morristown. Stone was wanted out of Hamblen County for probation violation on an aggravated assault charge. He was taken into custody and transported back to Cocke County.
