Woman Assaulted Sunday Night

A man assaulted a woman Sunday night at Hometowne Laundry in Newport. Witnesses stated that 36 year old Justin Tucker had punched 34 year old Penny South in the face. According to Tucker, who admitted to the assault, the argument was over meth and marijuana. South stated that Tucker during the argument punched her and put his arm around her throat and when she attempted to call 911, he took away her phone. One of the witnesses that called 911 intervened between the two. Tucker was confirmed to have previous domestic assault charges against Penny South. Tucker was charged with aggravated assault and interfering with an emergency call.
