Introducing The Senior Angel Tree
Most are familiar with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree where you adopt a child’s name from the tree and provide them with a gift. Many seniors are having a tough time right now due to the economy and inflation. Many seniors are having to choose between whether to pay for medication or pay to heat their homes much less think about something for Christmas. So, the Cocke County Senior Center is having a Senior Angel Tree this year. If you know of a senior that would like a gift for Christmas, contact the senior center with that person’s name and they will get them on the senior Angel Tree. On the other hand, if you are interested in adopting a senior to buy a gift for, you can contact the Cocke County Senior Center. They are located in the Tanner Building in Newport. The number is (423) 623-7296 Ext. 4. Elves will be making deliveries to the senior angels on Tuesday December 20th. The deadline to register a senior for the angel tree is coming up this Friday, December 9th.
