Canine Cave Rescue In Grainger County
A Grainger County dog is safe after being rescued after he fell down into a cave. Jacob Reed says his coon hound Shaker had caught the scent of a raccoon and wound up falling down 50-75 feet into a cave opening. The Bean Station and Rutledge Volunteer Fire Departments and the Tennessee Mine Rescue Assoc. leaped into action. They used trees as anchors and repelled down into the cave where they were able to pull Shaker out of the cave and to safety. Reed says he gave Shaker some food and water and his faithful companion is just fine after his unexpected excursion into the cave.
