Identity Of Man Found In Pigeon River Released

We have now learned the identity of the man that was found dead in the Pigeon River over the weekend. According to the Cocke County Sheriff’s office, the deceased is 61 year old Kenneth Earl Rathbone. His body was spotted by rafters in the Pigeon River near Waterville Road around 12:40 Saturday Afternoon. The Sheriff’s department had withheld the man’s name until relatives could be notified. The body is being sent to the Knoxville Forensics Center for an autopsy to help determine the cause of death. No other information is being released at this time.
