Parrottsville Man Arrested For Domestic Assault
Deputies with the Cocke County Sheriff’s office responded to a home in Parrottsville on Wednesday about a man brandishing a gun inside his home. 72 year old Hazel Cheek, who was bedridden with a foot injury called 911 saying that her husband, 71 year old Luther Cheek, had been carrying a gun around the home. She screamed to the 911 operator that he was now in bed beside her reloading his gun. The 911 operator was able to speak with Luther asking him to put down the gun, but he responded saying he didn’t want to hurt anyone but would if he had to. When deputies arrived they saw a silhouette in a window of a man holding a long gun. Luther Cheek refused to come out or put down the gun. Cheek was confronted with law enforcement as he was coming down some back steps to the house. He refused to comply with deputies’ commands and was finally taken to the ground. While on the ground Luther was repeatedly given verbal commands to give us his hands and had his left arm under his stomach as he pulled away from us saying he was not going to give us his hands. Luther was then placed in custody and was found to have six ( 6 ) knives in total on his person. Luther Cheek was transported to the Cocke County jail charged with domestic assault.
