Traffic Stop Leads To Two Arrests

A traffic stop in Newport resulted in two arrests Tuesday night. Police pulled over a car on Cosby Hwy with dark tinted windows, no operable muffler and a tag that was not on file. Inside the car was the driver and two passengers. The driver was Anjelica Roberts who was wanted on a capias out of Cocke County Circuit Court. The front seat passenger was 43 year old Mandy Turner who had a warrant for her arrest in Cocke County. Turner also admitted to having heroin in her bag. Police found .9 grams of heroin along with several used syringes, used plastic baggies, a glass pipe and cut straws. She was charged with possession of schedule I drugs and drug paraphernalia. The other passenger in the vehicle, Jessica Nease, was not charged.
