Man Arrested After Threatening Stepson
A 59 year old Newport man has been jailed after he attempted to stab his step-son at the Newport City Park Sunday. Police originally spoke with Evert Moore who stated that his step-son, Senater Hyde had punched him in the face. No wound was found on Moore’s face, but he did have a bruise on his wrist. When police spoke with Hyde, he admitted that he punched Moore in the face, but it was in self-defense because Moore had brandished a pocket knife and attempted to cut him. Numerous witnesses confirmed Hyde’s account of events. Evert Moor was then arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
