Man Arrested For Stabbing Mailbox
Police in Newport arrested a man over the weekend after he stabbed a neighbor’s mailbox and left a note. Barry Huffines of Greene Acres Drive called police after his neighbor, 57 year old Michael Harper stabbed a knife through his and his wife’s mailbox with a note attached. Huffines stated to police that he and his wife just know Harper in passing, but the note left on his mailbox by Harper said he was tired of Huffines calling him “Mickey”. Huffines says that Harper has a habit of driving his motorcycle up and down the road doing donuts in the middle of the road. Other neighbors have allegedly gotten notes in their mailboxes as well, but thought the situation was harmless until the knife was stabbed into the Huffines’ mailbox.
Police originally could not locate Michael Harper at his address. However, later in the day they received a call in the same area for a broken window. Thomas Henderson claimed that Michael Harper had shot his window out. This time officers were able to locate Harper, who denied shooting out the window, but admitted to stabbing the mailbox. He was arrested and charged with vandalism.
