Man Jailed For Domestic Assault

A man was jailed last night after assaulting his girlfriend and threatening her family. Police arrived at the home on Filbert Street in Newport Tuesday evening and found a man and woman outside yelling at each other and the responding officer separated them. Samantha Driskell told police that she and her boyfriend, 32 year old Brandon Carder had been arguing inside the home. She stated she tried to get away by going to a bedroom, but he followed her and told her he would kill her family if she left him. Carder admitted to the officer that he threatened her family but not her. He also stated he was on prescription steroids which “cause him to argue”. Carder was taken into custody without incident and charged with domestic assault.
