Cocke Co Woman Reports EBT Card Used In New York City

A Newport woman has reported to the Cocke County Sheriff’s office that someone out of state is using her EBT card. The woman says that her EBT card was used in New York City this past weekend. She says that $281 from her EBT card was used at the “Smart Shop Deli and Grill” in Brooklyn on Saturday, June 3rd. She says she has contacted police in New York and reported the theft. She wanted to notify locla authorities here about the situation as well. No one has been charged at this time. It’s just a reminder to keep a watch of all charges on your EBT card and for that matter, all credit and debit cards you have.
