State Of Tennessee Releases Numbers For TCAP 3rd Grade Scores

The state of Tennessee has released the numbers for the retake on the TCAP 3rd grade scores. A large percentage of third graders in Cocke County performed below expectations on the TCAP reading test. Newport Grammar school third graders did substantially better. Of those who did not pass the test initially, 45% of third graders in the county opted to retake the test. Of those students, nearly 39% either exceeded or had improved to approaching expectations.

For the Newport Grammar Students who initially scored below 69% opted to retake the test. 35% of those students scored as exceeded or approaching on the retake.

For those students who did not pass the retaken test or opted not to retake the test, they will have to attend summer school to be able to move on to the 4th grade. Some students may also be assigned a tutor for the next school year.
