Two New Eating Establishments Projects Proceeding

The projects to being two new eating establishments to Newport are proceeding. According to the Cocke County Partnership, Economic Development Commission, the site plan for Firehouse Subs to occupy the site that was previously C&C Pawn on Cosby Hwy has been approved. Construction is slated to begin sometime later this month. Just up Cosby Hwy from there where the old Marathon station now sits is where Zaxby’s will be locating. That project is now under contract and you should start seeing activity at that site begin later this summer.

Cocke County has received federal and state grants to expand sewer service to Exit 440, which is the Wilton Springs exit on I-40 and to expand that sewer service to Cosby school. The grants total roughly $16 million for that project. That project should be going up for bid soon.
