Newport Police Arrest Man For Possession
Newport police were called to the Time Out Travel Center about a man unresponsive in a vehicle. 40 year old Christopher Cashen had a glass pipe in his lap and what appeared to be a bag of marijuana in his hand. Upon opening the driver’s door, police spotted gray pouch sitting in the door methamphetamine and 2 plastic baggies of suspected heroin. There were also multiple other pipes found in Cashen’s vehicle along with burnt spoons. In total, the methamphetamine weighed 6 grams, there were 2 grams of heroin, and 8 grams of marijuana was also found in the vehicle. Cashen was arrested and charged with possession of schedule I & II narcotics and simple possession for the marijuana.
