NGS Rates Exemplary On TDOE Assessment
The Tennessee Department of Education has released the 2022-2023 school year TCAP results by district. The results include exams from the fall of 2022 as well as the spring of 2023. Newport Grammar School ranked with several other school districts around the state with exemplary status.
Groups were broken into Grades 3-5, 6-8 and high school grades 9-12. Those groups were given achievement scores with 4 being the highest. The Achievement score is assessed based on the percent of students who met or exceeded grade-level expectations (i.e., success rate) on state math and ELA (English Language Arts) assessments. At Newport Grammar School both groups, grades 3-5 and 6-8 scored a 4.0. That resulted in an exemplary rating by the state.
Now Cocke County schools did not do as well. Grades 3-5 and 9-12 both had an achievement score of 1.5. However grades 6-8 scored a 4.0. Overall the Cocke County school district was given a “satisfactory” rating.
