Arrest Made In Theft From Jefferson Co. Fire Dept.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office has made an arrest in the theft of some valuable tools from a fire department. On Tuesday, the New Market Fire & Rescue station 2 responded to a brush fire and found that numerous tools were missing. Those items were valued at over $60,000. It included a life saving extrication tool. On Wednesday, investigators looking into that theft arrested a suspect. Former fire department member James Marshall was taken into custody after getting a tip. Investigators with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s department interviewed Marshall and found that much of the stolen equipment was at a location in Knox County. Jefferson County and Knox County authorities then went to that location and recovered numerous stolen items, although there are still some items missing. Authorities believe the items were stolen while the engines were parked in the fire department’s garage. They also believe that there are two more individuals who were involved.
