Railroad Crossing At North & Main Closed Sunday

A major road closure could affect your travel this weekend. This Sunday, the railroad crossing at North and Main in Newport will be closed in order to repave that crossing. The City of Newport says that the railroad crossing at City Hall and the Newport Police department are expected to be open, but you can expect delays. Motorists are highly encouraged to find an alternate route on Sunday and avoid the intersection of North and Main as well as avoiding crossing the Northport bridge. The City of Newport says you should also plan on having extra time Monday morning, just in case the work is not completed by that time.
