GSMNP Fee Free Day This Friday
Get ready to enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains National Park…for free. Entrance into the park is still free, but back in March the national park insituted a parking pass policy. That policy requires all vehicles parked longer than 15 minutes anywhere in the park to display a valid tag…whether it be a daily, weekly or annual parking pass.
To celebrate the third anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act, Great Smoky Mountains National Park will take part in fee-free day on Friday, August 4. Park visitors will not need to buy or display a parking tag that day. The Great American Outdoors Act, passed on August 4, 2020, provides funding to make significant enhancements in national parks and other public lands to ensure their preservation and provide opportunities for recreation, education, and enjoyment for current and future visitors.
There will be two more fee-free days coming up this year that the Smokies will take part of. Those will be National Public Lands Day on September 23 and Veterans Day on November 11.
