Woman Reports Being Victim Of Theft
A woman reported to Newport police on Monday that she had been the victim of theft. Chrystal Middlebrooks says she was letting 28 year old Sterling Hopper stay at her home for the last couple months, but recently told him he needed to leave. Middlebrooks says that Hopper had brought another unknown male subject into the house at one point. Upon Hopper leaving the home, Ms. Middlebrook noticed several items from he home were missing, including several firearms. A 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P Shield, a .22 caliber long rifle and an over under 12 gauge shotgun were the firearms taken. There were also several Snap-On tools that were taken as well. Total value of the items taken was around $2,000. Middlebrooks says she knows that Hopper had re-entered her home on Sunday through a doggy door. No arrests have been made yet in that case.
