K9 APPREHENDS SUSPECT
There was some action last night in the area of the Sunoco on route 25/70 near I-40. Two K9 Deputies were advised a man was in that area in a vehicle with stolen tags. When officers Pickens and Cupp arrived in that area, they found the suspect at the Dollar General on Hwy 25/70 at the intersection of old Hwy 411. After pulling out of the Dollar General that vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and pulled onto Hwy 25-70…. Cupp activated his lights and siren but the vehicle would not pull over. The driver of that car, a man going by the name of Anthony Neil McKinney then pulled into the Sunoco station and tried to drive around the building, but crashed into a pile of debris. McKinney exited the vehicle and took off on foot. The K9 Narco was released to go after the suspect. Narco apprehended McKinney in a grove of trees in short order…McKinney was injured but those injuries were not serious and he was taken to the Cocke County Jail. The tags on the vehicle came back stolen out of Jefferson County. A passenger in that stolen vehicle was detained as well. .. .that person was evidently being held against their will as one of the many charges against McKinney is kidnapping.
