Reckless Motorcyclist Facing Multiple Charges
A man was arrested the night of the 4th of July for driving a motorcycle recklessly on Cosby Hwy. The motorcyclist was spotted driving 92 mph in a 55 mph zone. As a Cocke County deputy began pursuit, the man on the motorcycle accelerated and split the middle of the southbound two lanes between two vehicles, almost striking the vehicle to his right. Once on the two lane section of Cosby Hwy, the motorcyclist, who had now been identified as 54 year old Toby Gooderham was observed going at a high speed leaving his lane several times , crossing double yellow lines, passing in no passing zones with and without oncoming traffic, and having no regard for other driver’s safety. Cocke County LT. Miranda Williams stated in her report that Gooderham took one curve so sharply that she could see sparks fly.
Gooderham exited the highway near Webb’s Market, and took off driving into a field before stopping and stumbling off the motorcycle. He was taken into custody at that time. An open beer bottle was found inside his cup holder. The rest of a six pack was found in one of his saddle bags. In the other saddle bag, deputies found a bottle of whiskey, 3/4 of which had been consumed. Gooderham has been charged with felony reckless endangerment, reckless driving and DUI among other charges.
