A Pair of Drunk & Disorderly Charges
On Wednesday evening, Newport Police were dispatched to a residence in reference to multiple hang up calls. Upon arrival, Officer Paul Webber observed Pamela Strange sitting outside the residence with open lacerations to her face and arms. The officer noted that he could hear another female inside the residence yelling and cursing. Ms. Strange stated that her friend, Kimberly Burchfield had assaulted her and thrown her belongings around in the house. Officer Webber also noted that Ms. Strange appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The officer went inside the residence and made contact with Ms. Burchfield, who was still yelling and calling Ms. Strange names. Ms. Burchfield, who also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, stated that she did not hit Ms. Strange, but that Ms. Strange did hit her. The officer was able to conclude the argument and assault occurred over one of the two parties drinking the last bottle of alcohol. During the officer’s interview with Ms. Strange, Ms. Burchfield came out of the residence yelling and cursing at Ms. Strange. Both women had cuts and scratches from the fight, and the house appeared to be in disarray from the incident. Both parties appeared highly intoxicated and were placed under arrest and transported to jail without incident. Officer Derek Wright also responded to this incident.
