Altercation Leads To Assault Charge

A 20 year old man was taken to jail Thursday night after an altercation in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Newport. A witness told police that he observed the offender, Raven Bare, aggressively approach the victim, Katina Valdez. The witness stated that he intervened on behalf of Ms. Valdez and that he watched as Raven Bare spit in the victim’s face before running off as police were called. Raven Bare did return to the parking lot to speak with police and told police that he may have accidentally spit in the victim’s face while they were speaking. After talking to those involved police concluded that Mr. Bare was the aggressor in the altercation and he was taken into custody charged with Assault.
